For the past 31 years, I have served the local church as a youth pastor. I was 22 years old when I started my first youth ministry role at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church under the Pastoral leadership of Steve Teague. Over the years, I have had the privilege and blessing of serving in three different cities: Tellico Plains, Tennessee; Madison, Indiana and here at Lakeside in Vero Beach.
In the summer of 2019, I was at our annual summer camp when I first heard the Lord saying “this season of your life is coming to a close.” Since that time and through lots of prayer, that time has come. May 31st, I will be stepping away for my week to week role as a youth pastor, ministry leader, my pastoral roles and stepping into a new ministry role.
Beginning June 1st, I will be a regional director for First Priority of South Florida. While my week to week role is changing, the role of seeing students surrender their lives to Christ is still moving forward. First Priority is an organization that connects the local church, youth pastors and students to their local school campus. Their first priority is raise up student leaders, equip them to share the Gospel and become missionaries right on their school campus! This is the heart of the Gospel!
My family and I are so humbled and grateful student ministry will continue to be our focus. I will continue to serve the local church, youth pastors and students just from a different seat.
Lakeside! I am humbled and grateful to have been on the journey with each of you! The partnership that Pastor Terry Neiman and I have shared, the staff, the teams and most of all you, my church family. We will always treasure these years! We love each of you deeply!
Finally, I am so deeply thankful for all the opportunities God has given me with youth workers and students! This calling is at the heartbeat of my journey and will be until the end!
Serving Him 24.7,
Joe, Summer, Colin and Grace
